What this covers
This page describes how Pixelpond, an Australian independent watch face studio, handles information in the Pixelpond phone app and its Wear OS helper. For privacy questions, contact support@pixelpond.au.
Separately installed watch faces, including premium faces, have their own policies. This page does not replace those policies or Google’s terms for Google Play.
Catalogue and artwork requests
The app connects to watchfaces.pixelpond.au over HTTPS to load public face descriptions and artwork. It loads the catalogue at startup and checks for updates roughly once a minute while the app is in the foreground. It sends the requested catalogue or image address and, when available, a catalogue revision so the service can check whether content has changed. These requests do not include your favourites, trial collection or Pixel Pet progress.
The catalogue is hosted by Vercel. Requests expose your IP address, the requested address and standard technical request information, including an Android user-agent string that can identify your Android version and phone model, to Vercel so it can deliver content and protect the service. The app does not request GPS location or send your saved preferences to Vercel. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice.
Our hosting configuration retains runtime logs and request observability data for 30 days. Request records can include your IP address, the country inferred from it, your user agent, the requested path and the response result. We use hosting records to monitor service health, diagnose problems and protect the service. We have no configured log exports or facility to delete an individual hosting request record early. Vercel’s security processing has its own retention practices; the 30-day period is not a promise that every provider record is deleted after 30 days.
A copy of the catalogue and downloaded artwork is saved on your phone to support later viewing. If a refresh fails, the app can show previously saved content or built-in previews; that does not mean the information was just checked online.
Watch compatibility
When you check a connected watch, the app uses Google Play services to discover the watch and ask the matching Pixelpond helper for a compatibility report. The report includes a connection identifier, watch name, manufacturer, model, Android version, helper version, support status and the time it was generated. The phone sends its app version and the versions of the reporting format it understands.
The phone saves the most recent report for each reported watch so it can explain a later disconnected or unavailable state. The app does not upload these reports to the catalogue service.
Google’s Data Layer may carry this exchange over Bluetooth or through Google’s servers, depending on connectivity. Google documents encryption for these connections, including end-to-end encryption for cloud transfer. This is not a promise that the exchange always stays on a local Bluetooth connection. See Google’s Data Layer overview and Google’s Privacy Policy.
Installation diagnostics
Supervised installation diagnostics use Google Play services and Watch Face Push to transfer a validated watch face between designated devices. This diagnostic process is separate from the app’s normal browsing and Google Play purchase features and does not require an account or purchase.
The diagnostic process checks app identities, connection identifiers, versions and validation information before a transfer. It records identity digests, device and app versions, and the installation result in files on the phone. Diagnostic results and screenshots may be copied to protected local storage for investigation. They are not automatically uploaded to the catalogue service.
The temporary installation file on the watch is removed after the attempt. An installed face and diagnostic records can remain afterwards. Diagnostic authorisation expires separately from retained records; expiry does not delete a face or report. Contact Pixelpond with questions about diagnostic information involving your device.
Preferences and trial activity
Favourites, appearance and sound preferences, trial collection events and Pixel Pet progress are stored locally on your phone. Search and navigation state also help the app restore your place. Pixel Pet activity and reward scenarios are trial data, not readings from a health or fitness service.
The current app keeps interaction events, such as viewing a face or checking compatibility, in memory for the running app session. This event recorder does not send those events to an analytics service.
The app does not create Pixelpond accounts or verify purchases. Features labelled as previews do not create paid entitlements or financial rewards. Purchases, installations and updates for available faces are handled through Google Play. The supervised diagnostic process described above is limited to designated devices.
The receipt trial can open Android’s image picker. The app records only whether you selected an image; it does not read, copy, retain or upload the selected image or its address. The trial’s submission result is simulated, not a receipt review.
Google Play and support
Opening an available face’s Google Play listing passes its app listing address to the Google Play app. Any purchase or installation there is handled by Google Play; the app does not receive a payment card number or verify a receipt from that action.
If you email support@pixelpond.au, your message reaches our business mailbox in Google Workspace. Your email provider and Google process your address, message and any attachments so we can receive and respond to your request. See Google’s Privacy Policy. Please avoid sending passwords, full receipts, account identifiers or unredacted device logs.
We keep support correspondence while it is needed to handle your request and related follow-up, or to meet a legal obligation. You can ask us to delete information you sent to support. We delete information we no longer need and explain any reason we must retain it. This does not promise immediate removal from a provider’s backups.
Opening web pages
The app’s support and privacy links open your browser only when you tap them. These website pages use Cloudflare Web Analytics when enabled, separately from the app’s catalogue and artwork requests. The website analytics script does not run inside the Pixelpond app. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Your local data and choices
You can remove a favourite or change preferences in the app. The trial reset clears trial collection and Pixel Pet progress; it does not clear every app preference or the compatibility cache. Android’s app storage controls can clear the app’s local data. Clearing storage or uninstalling loses local preferences and trial progress and does not cancel a Google Play purchase.
Clearing local app data does not erase requests already handled by hosting providers or messages already sent by email. For privacy questions or a request concerning information you sent to support, contact support@pixelpond.au.
Age range
The app is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us at the address above so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
Separate watch face policies
For a standalone face, use its own listing and policy: Ramen Time or Deep Horizon. The app’s network access should not be inferred from a resource-only watch face’s policy.
